The Bushcraft Program

Guided Bush Adventure into the Tararua's.  Our instructors will teach basic survival skills while ensuring the children are safe and challenged.   

The group ‘Day Walk’, into the bush, where they discuss building emergency shelters, are shown how, and then practice these activities themselves.  The children learn how to make a camp fire and ‘bivy’ up for the night, and will cook their own snack over their fire.  The day is great fun, can by physically and mentally challenging and can be adapted to varying fitness levels and development requirements.   This is a full day activity.

Our most popular programmes include the Overnight Bushcraft option, where the children build and sleep in their emergency shelters, or at our fantastic permanent Bush Hut and alpine tent sites, learn about and experience river crossings and participate in the River Safe Programme sponsored by ACC, and will cook their dinner and breakfast over the camp fires.  Year 7/8 through to Year 12.
